PROBLEM STATEMENT

Medium has a lot of great content, but readers often see the same types of stories in their feed. It’s hard to discover new and interesting topics without searching manually. This makes the experience feel repetitive and less exciting over time.

How might we make it easier for readers to explore fresh, relevant content in a way that feels simple, personalized, and engaging?

My approach

My approach

User Research

I analyzed user behaviors and reading habits to learn how readers find content, what annoys them, and what keeps them hooked.

Step 1

Journey Mapping

I mapped out the current reader experience to identify key pain points—especially around discovery, repetition, and lack of control.

Step 2

Ideation

I emphasized three key ideas: Discovery Feed for new finds, Topic Explorer Grid for visual browsing, and Mood Filters for tailored content.

Step 3

High Fidelity Design

I designed desktop mockups that blend these features into Medium’s existing design language — minimal, clean, and easy to navigate.

Let’s connect

Got an interesting project, a topic worth chatting about, or just up for a game of FIFA or chess?

Hit me up — I’m all ears (and ready to play).
